ラルク内紛劇の発端はギャラの未払いとＤＶＤ制作をめぐるトラブルの２点とされている。
１つ目は２００６年１１月に開催した結成１５周年ライブだ。このとき、衛星放送のＷＯＷＯＷが独占放送したが、この放送権料約６００万円は事務所とメンバー間で分配する約束だった。ところが、事務所が昨年まで懐に入れたままだったことが発覚。これで亀裂が生じたという。
２つ目は、１５年に大阪で開催されたライブのＤＶＤ化の話。これをメンバーの了承を得ることなく事務所が進めたため、メンバーの不信感はピークに。特に憤慨しているｈｙｄｅとｔｅｔｓｕｙａが“独立派”とされ、４人の意向が合致次第、年内にも独立するとみられている。
本紙の報道に、ラルク側は沈黙を保ったままだが、実は“火種”はそれだけではなかった。そのｈｙｄｅとｔｅｔｓｕｙａの関係がピリピリしているというのだ。
内部事情に詳しい関係者はこう証言する。
「長い間活動を続けていれば、多かれ少なかれ関係に波が出るのは当然ですが、２人の関係は微妙になっている。特に１６年の出来事が決定づけましたね」
現在、４人のメンバーはそれぞれソロ活動がメーン。ｈｙｄｅは「ＶＡＭＰＳ」、ｔｅｔｓｕｙａはソロ名義「ＴＥＴＳＵＹＡ」として、ギターのｋｅｎ（４８）もソロのほかライブイベント「ＰＡＲＴＹ ＺＯＯ」を主催。ドラムのｙｕｋｉｈｉｒｏ（４８）は「ａｃｉｄ ａｎｄｒｏｉｄ」という具合だ。そのため、ラルクとしてライブを行う際、スケジュールを早めに押さえなければならない。
気になる１６年の出来事とは――。
「その年の５月に、味の素スタジアムで２日間のライブをやる計画があったんです。リハーサルも入れれば３日間。そのため、１５年の暮れから『スタンバイしておいてくれ』とメンバーに通達がありました。ところが、ｔｅｔｓｕｙａの個人的なスケジュールが延びてしまい、２月の段階で『やらない』と言いだしたんです。スケジュールを空けていたメンバーは『そりゃ、ねえだろ』と猛抗議。特にｈｙｄｅの怒りはすさまじかったんですが、ｔｅｔｓｕｙａも譲らない。結局ｈｙｄｅは『もういいよ…』と言い残して拠点の米ロサンゼルスに帰ってしまったんです」
実は、この２人には過去にも伏線があった。１１年の５月にラルクの２０周年コンサートが予定されていたが、その直前に東日本大震災が発生。そのため、収益金を義援金として寄付すべきとの声が上がった。ここでも２人はモメた。
「ｈｙｄｅは賛成だったんですが、ｔｅｔｓｕｙａが反対して対立しました。ｔｅｔｓｕｙａの言い分は『そういうことは水面下でやるべき』と。確かに考え方は理解できますが、結局寄付を発表することになり、２人の関係にしこりが残ったのです」（音楽関係者）
今年は２５周年の記念ライブだったため、さすがにラルクとしての活動をやることになったが「２人はアイコンタクトをしなかった」（同関係者）ともっぱらの話だ。
「残りの２人のメンバーも決して親密とはいえず、このままいけば“空中分解”は時間の問題。存続するにしても、次に２人がぶつかれば確終了です」（同関係者）
