ANKARA, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The central issue in relations between Ankara and the EU is opening various chapters for Turkey's possible accession to the bloc, Turkish deputy prime minister and government spokesperson Numan Kurtulmus said on Monday.

"Opening the chapters will form the main point of Turkish-EU relations," he told reporters after a cabinet meeting quoting as the state-run Anadolu Agency.

"Turkey's main goal is to maintain relations with the EU under the framework of full future membership," he added.

Consensus was reached to revive ties between Ankara and Brussels at a meeting of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and EU leaders on the sidelines of a NATO summit in Brussels on May 25.

Following the meeting in Brussels, Erdogan said the EU had presented Turkey with a new 12-month timetable for renewing relations.

Turkey and the EU will study a 12-month calendar regarding the upcoming agenda of talks with Brussels and work on topics that will be prioritized, Kurtulmus noted.

According to the new timetable, the EU and Turkey will ensure they fulfill the obligations in the migrant deal they signed on March, 2016.

On September 4, 2016, President Xi Jinping met in Hangzhou with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt, who was in China to attend the G20 Summit upon invitation.

Xi Jinping pointed out that in recent years, China and Egypt have conducted frequent high-level exchanges, continuously promoted practical cooperation in various fields, carried out close exchanges in people-to-people and cultural engagement as well as local affairs, and maintained sound communication and coordination in international and regional affairs. China is willing to continue to share mutual support with Egypt on issues related to each other’s core concerns. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed that the traditional friendship between the two countries has deeply rooted in hearts of the two peoples. He thanked President Xi Jinping for inviting him to attend the G20 Hangzhou Summit, which further reflects the high level of Egypt-China relations. Egypt devotes itself to continuously promoting bilateral relations, so that it can better meet the expectations of the two peoples. Egypt is willing to enhance communication and cooperation with China in such areas as industry, communication, technology, agriculture, water conservancy, finance, local management and human resource.
